It may be for this reason that Nostalgia Night is such a success that it was made an official celebration by the Ministry of Tourism.Īs for me, a total fan of late 70’,s, 80’s & 90’s music I must say I love it! I don’t go out every year (which is a bummer□) but I definitely get a kick out of it during my classes □□□□. Uruguayans are said to be typically nostalgic. Over the years it has become an important festive event, with a wide range of parties celebrated throughout the country. Every year since, other business people caught on and started offering the same thematic venture. Dance clubs, radio stations, private parties and many other events take place honoring the night away with "nostalgic music" (oldies).Īpparently it all started by Pablo Lecueder, owner of CX-32 Radiomundo, who organized a party with "old music hits", which was the theme of his radio show "Old Hits". Many of my followers are intrigued with what is this about… here’s a little “history” on the subject: In Uruguay, every year since 1978, the Nostalgia Night (Spanish: Noche de la Nostalgia) is celebrated every August 24th, eve of the National Holiday of the Declaration of Independence on August 25th. ![]()
